Eagles Add Hefney to Practice Squad

Free Safety Jonathan Hefney was added to the Practice Squad today. They let CB Kyle Arrington go.

Here is the pre-Draft writeup I did on him:

Hefney has a lot of potential. I thought he would be a really good player as a Senior and get picked as high as the late 2nd round. That didn't happen. He didn't take the next step (scout talk for guys who quit improving). I thought of him as a potential NFL starter coming into his Senior year, but not necessarily coming out of it.

Hefney can hit. He's not a killer, but he will get big shots in from time to time. His tackling is up and down, but it isn't for lack of effort or toughness. He needs to wrap-up more consistently. He has centerfielder ability. He's got okay range and plays the ball well. He also has some punt return experience.

Interesting addition.
